We are excited to announce that Isoprime UK is undergoing a change of name to Elementar UK Ltd.

We are excited to announce that Isoprime Ltd is undergoing a change of name to Elementar UK Ltd. As a result of this name change the stable isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) products that have been sold under the Isoprime brand are to be completely transferred to the Elementar brand.

There are a number of factors which have lead us to make this decision but the main reason is to bring better clarity to the stable isotope community about who we are, what we do and what we want to achieve. By consolidating all of our products into a single brand, we are able to better present our values, technology and capabilities to the market, delivering stronger brand value.

We are working hard to have this transition done quickly and smoothly and hope you share our confidence and optimism about the change. In case there are any questions or concerns we have created some FAQs below which may help:

Weren’t you always called Elementar?

Well, (obviously) no. But this demonstrates the reason why we are changing our name. Across large parts of the globe, our IRMS products have already been presented by our colleagues in the Elementar Group and so the name “Isoprime” has already been effectively reduced to a model name. The most obvious place where our name change will be noticed is in the UK, but many customers are already aware of our close connection to the Elementar name already, so we believe the change will be minimal.

What happens to my service & support?

Besides a name change, all other aspects of the business remain exactly the same. Therefore when you need support with your IRMS instruments, you should make contact with your local support team in the same way as before. Any staff with a …@isoprime.co.uk address will be changing to a new …@elementar.co.uk address and we are creating a new website which will contain the updated contact information. However, the old addresses will be redirected to the new versions very soon.

What does this mean for the IRMS products?

Elementar are committed to creating innovative IRMS products and ensuring that our customers remain at the forefront of their respective research fields. By merging all products into the Elementar brand, we are able to better present IRMS as a complementary technique to elemental analysis and vice versa therefore strengthening the offer of IRMS. Also, as a single organisation the cross-fertilization of ideas, technologies and resources across the business should lead to innovative new products. So, with the potential for exciting new products, the future for the IRMS community looks bright.

Does the “Isoprime” name disappear?

We are very proud of the name “Isoprime” and the long-standing heritage that it represents. It is a name which is synonymous with Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry across the globe and has been in use for almost 20 years. We are, therefore, keen to ensure that the legacy of the name “Isoprime” lives on. To do this, we will be re-branding our new “visION” and “precisION” models as “isoprime visION” and “isoprime precisION” respectively.

Adjustment of the Elementar branding strategy

Elementar is known as a manufacturer of analytical instruments for organic elemental analysis. Furthermore, the product portfolio contains mass spectrometers, developed and manufactured from the 100 % subsidiary Isoprime. To make clear that both brands belong together and to exploit synergy effects, all Isoprime products will be marketed within the Elementar brand.

Isoprime was acquired by Elementar in 2008 and was marketed as an independent brand within the umbrella brand Elementar Group. This ensured the positive reputation of the products in the market: Isoprime is a pioneer in the field of mass spectrometry for over 40 years, in the tradition of Vacuum Generators in Manchester.

The disadvantage of this strategy was that the connection between Elementar and Isoprime is not clearly visible, even though both companies are closely interlinked – most of the time the products are used in combination by customers. To gain more efficiency and exploit synergy effects, all Isoprime products will in future be marketed within the Elementar brand. The company is now present as one strong brand worldwide – irrespective whether the office is in China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, USA or in Great Britain.

Mr. Albrecht Sieper, director of Elementar Analysensysteme GmbH, justifies the decision as follows: „It is the logical consequence of our expanded worldwide presence. We are one company, which offers cutting-edge technology in the fields of elemental analysis and stable isotope analysis – and that is how we want to be recognized in the market.”

Except the change of the brand name, there are no further changes for Isoprime customers: They will further benefit from professional service and their well-known contact partners, which remain unchanged at the company.
