> Consolidation of European life science web portals drives growth

> Expansion into North American market & web site redesign

> Major proof-of-concept for [iito]’s unique business model

[iito] Business Intelligence announces a major milestone with regard to its business web portals for the European life sciences and the world-wide analytical industry. This January – for the first time ever – [iito] portals created more than half a million page views per month. All portals target business professionals and decision makers only.

This represents a year-over-year growth rate of over 25% and confirms the decision to consolidate the regional European web portals at Since October 2018 the three regional business portals, and have successfully been redirected to Until the end of 2019 [iito] plans to also consolidate the only remaining regional portal,, into

In 2019 [iito] will also extend its industry coverage to the North American market. A beta version of has already been announced, with a full launch – including a web site redesign of all [iito] portals – planned for autumn 2019.

The business model of [iito] has proven itself with this tremendous growth story and will continue to be based on five pillars:

1. No content marketing (i.e., »no-pay-to-play« policy)
2. No personalised tracking
3. No mailings
4. No search engine optimisation (SEO)
5. Selling only banner ads (clearly labelled as such) and nothing else

Marcus Lippold, Head of [iito] Business Intelligence, comments:
»Coming out of nowhere – with no brand in the market, no subscriber base, not really a budget that deserved the name, and with a very uncommon business model, that went against everything that has become en vogue in online marketing in recent years – we have now become a quite relevant player in this high-end niche market.«

He continues: »I always felt that we had to protect our content, i.e., ultimately our readers, from our customers. As with any free web portal, [iito]’s paying customers are advertising partners, however, these are used to “get into the content”, they want “display” or “visibility” in the content space. A plain advertisement is seen as obscene and stupid these days by online marketing professionals. And when you tell somebody that tracking of individual users is not possible, the clients will tell you that you are crazy and totally out of date. Performance-based marketing is king these days! And everybody knows, the Emperor wears new clothes, just like a woman.«

[iito] has – over nearly a decade – turned away most potential marketing customers by refusing to allow content marketing, refusing to track anybody, and refusing to send out mailings. Everybody laughed and said »Great concept, BUT how do you make money?«. [iito] indeed didn’t make any money for many years, as [iito] did not sell what everybody asked for, while [iito] offered exactly what nobody wanted. Things changed, with half a million page views per month – and the transatlantic web portal not even fully launched – [iito] portals have now reached an excellent position in the market.
