Life Sciences Bremen is the association of the life sciences companies of the Federal State of Bremen, with a membership focussed in the areas of analytics and diagnostics.

Fluorescence and laser scanning microscopy is used in booming scientific areas like microbiology, biotechnology and cancer research as well in materials research. The deployment of this advanced high-end technology often requires specific expert knowledge. bionsys comprises a team of experts with longstanding experience and biophysical know-how in this field. Since its founding in 2008 the company has already supplied successfully services to leading national and international research institutions and companies.

Dr. Martin Beutler, founder and managing director of bionsys, says: "After studying physics at the Universities of Kiel in Germany and Edinburgh in Scotland, I did my Ph.D. at the Max Planck Institute in Plön in Germany. Afterwards I worked on the development of new microscopic technologies at the famous Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen in Germany and at King's College London. The good scientific and business environment finally lead to the decision to establish our company here in Bremen."

Dr. Boris Oberheitmann, chairman of the board of Life Sciences Bremen, adds: "bionsys is a perfect fit for our business association! The Federal State of Bremen in Germany is an internationally leading location for analytics and diagnostics.
