Oridis Biomed Forschungs- und Entwicklungs GmbH
ORIDIS Biomed was founded in 2001 and emerged from the Medical University Graz. In the early 80s, Founders Helmut Denk and Kurt Zatloukal, both Professors of Pathology in Graz and experts in liver pathology, started to build a unique human tissue repository, complete with comprehensive clinical data for each sample. In 2001, Zatloukal and Denk got together with seasoned Pharma and Biotech experts Peter Swetly (Boehringer Ingelheim, Veterinary University Vienna) and Nikolaus Zacherl (Novartis, IMP Vienna) to found ORIDIS, based on their combined experience and exclusive access to the unique tissue resource. From the start, ORIDIS was able to capitalise on its technology platform in a number of industrial and academic co-operations. Revenues from these co-operations as well as ample support from public sources (EU, FFF, Gen-AU, Christian Doppler Society) secured the financial basis to successfully advance the company's drug discovery and development programme. Through the founders and the Scientific Advisory Board, including Kim Nasmyth (Director, IMP Vienna), Gottfried Schatz (Institut Curie, Paris) and Bernd Wetzel (Boehringer Ingelheim), ORIDIS has access to an extensive network of industrial and research leaders in Pharma and Biotech. *
